Jan. 18,
2011: Skating at McKellar Park
7:00pm - 8:30pm At McKellar Park. We will meet at McKellar
Park at the skating rink. There is a new change building there
with a washroom. If your cub plans to play hockey please note
a helmet with a *full mask* (not a visor only) is REQUIRED
to play hockey. We want to avoid injuries similar to one that
occurred last year (stitches were required). We will also
practice our chuckwagon racing (cubs pulling a sled on the
ice - it's fun). This event takes place on skates, all levels
from beginner to expert are welcome. We will test cubs for
the skating badge ONLY this evening.

Fitness Tax Credit for Scouts Canada activities.
Scouts Canada programs have been confirmed as applicable for
the Federal Children's
Fitness Tax Credit. With the amount of physical exercise
our Cubs do, you shouldn't be surprised! All parents will
be provided a signed tax receipt for the registration fees
you paid for your cub(s). This greatly assists in reducing
your costs for the Scouts Canada programs. Click
here for more info from the CRA.

September
2011, our uniform is changing!
A new uniform is being introduced by Scouts Canada for all sections
(Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers - even leaders!) Scouts
Canada has an excellent
online site that describes everything you need to know about the
new uniforms.
Cubs can still wear the old style uniforms this year, and we have
a cub uniform page to assist you with badge placement on the old-style
uniforms. We have had several questions about where the badges go
on the uniform - please check our Uniform Orientation
page for some assistance in this area! Note that the orange 3rd
Ottawa "fleur-de-lys" emblem is sewn on the point of the
necker.
