Winter 2012: Camp Opemikon- Feb.3-5, 2012
Our winter camp this year will be on the first weekend in February
at Camp Opemikon. We have rented the largest cabin on the property,
which holds 25 people only. As we must have leaders at the event,
we are limiting leaders / parents to 5 and therefore we can have
20 youth at this camp only. Scouts Canada permits Cubs in cabins,
we do not recommend sleeping outdoors at this age. This will be
a fun camp and we will be outside most of the time, play broomball,
hike, see tracks, make tobaggan runs, and other fun activities.
Where: Camp Opemikon, Christie Lake, near Perth, ON
When: 6:45pm Friday, Feb. 3 to 1:00pm Sunday, Feb. 5
What: Hiking, broomball, crafts, campfires, and tons of other
fun.
Cost: $40 per cub. Please note the increased cost is
due to the cabin rental and that the Venturers will be cooking for
us, the Cubs will have excellent meals at this camp. Last year included
roast beef and all the trimmings on Saturday. 100% of the fee
goes to Opemikon for facilities and food.
Details about Opemikon on this page (below)
Please take note of our winter camp checklist
For new Cub campers, please let us know if you have any allergies
or aversions to specific foods. We do run a peanut-free camp.
Generic Camping Kit List
(UPDATED SEPT. 2011)
It is very important during the camps that all of the cubs
are prepared and will be happy and dry. For the fall and spring
camps, it is important to note that weather can vary between wet,
cool and sunny, hot. We have compiled a downloadable checklist for
parents to use as a guideline. Thanks to Jennifer B. for the 2011-2012
updates!
PLEASE MARK ALL ITEMS WITH YOUR NAME OR INITIALS. CUBS FREQUENTLY
MISPLACE ITEMS OR PACK THEM IN OTHER CUB'S GEAR.
